Tapas-concept

Tapas are Spain’s greatest food invention. The idea originated in Andalusia. It started, so they say, with a piece of bread, topped with ham or cheese, balanced over a glass, to keep the flies and dust away – the word “tapa” means cover. Gradually, other items were added to the tapa and this is how the concept grew.

Nowadays, the Tapas concept is a way of life – a fundamental part of the social ambience. The idea is to order one tapa per person, and a different one with each drink – then everyone enjoys tasting and sharing. Tapas can be “upgraded” to bigger portions known as a “ración”.

Traditionally, tapas are served in cazuela dishes which help keep the food hot and also look very good.

Our Boxes include a selection of cold and hot tapas – and you can also purchase the cazuela dishes to serve them in. The hot tapas in our boxes are a ración portion, all cooked to authentic Spanish recipes and only using quality products.

We offer three types of Boxes – the Medium Box will serve 4 to 6 people, the Large Box 6 to 8, and the Party Box, which is designed for groups of 10. We are keen for you to try as many of our Tapas as possible and have priced our Boxes very attractively : depending on the number of people you are entertaining it works out at between £8 and £12 a head, to create a great way of bringing a taste of Spain into your life.

With Tapas in a Box, you have complete flexibility of how you want to enjoy your food. You can store the chilled products in the fridge and the hot tapas in your freezer and consume when you’re ready – or, if you want to invite a few friends over to enjoy a leisurely long lunch or supper, heat and serve your dishes in stages to suit the mood of the occasion.
